Thursday November 13 is Give to the Max Day.

This state-wide philanthropic day of giving is a wonderful day not only for our fellow non-profits, but especially for Theatre Pro Rata!

This year we have a generous matching gift of $4,000… and you can help us reach our goal and double your dollars!

Pro Rata produces quality theater on a shoe-string budget, and ticket sales only cover 40% of our annual expenses. Your gift on November 13 will make an enormous difference. You can even go to the GiveMN.org website now to schedule your donation for the 13th if you’d like!

Audiences talk about our productions long after the lights go down. Artists come for the first time or again and again to create theater with us. And you can be part of it, too! With your help this company, looking at our 15th Anniversary season next year, will be around for years after that. Thank you for your contribution and your support of independent theater!

One final thank you to our wonderful sponsors who made our production of Twelfth Night possible. Because of their incredible generosity, we were able to present this production free of charge. So thank you to the following organizations who helped to make theater in the Twin Cities more accessible to everyone this summer:

Lowry Hill Neighborhood Association
Kenwood Isles Area Association
Kenwood Park
Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
Friends of Loring Park
Citizens for a Loring Park Community
Grinkie Girls
Scooterville

Pro Rata’s 2014-15 Season

We are thrilled to announce the lineup for our 2014-2015 season! Pro Rata’s 14th season will feature an adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984, The Woodsman by Steven Fechter, and The Illusion by Tony Kushner.

The season contains adaptations from literature and classical theater as well as a play that was itself adapted into a successful film (2004’s The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon).

Fans of Pro Rata and Twin Cities theater in general,

We’ve got some exciting news to share with you.

  • In Spring 2015, Park Square Theatre will be opening a new theater space in their building.
  • They’ve asked us to be one of their Producing Partners (Sandbox Theatre and Girl Friday Productions too).
  • What does this mean? For the next three years, one of our productions each season will be held in the brand new Andy Boss Thrust Stage at Park Square! Construction will begin soon and from the preliminary looks we’ve gotten at the design, we think you’ll be impressed.

In honor of Elephant’s Graveyard, Theatre Pro Rata made a symbolic adoption of a pygmy elephant through World Wildlife Fund.

This donation went towards protecting natural environments and endangered species and to help local communities build sustainable livelihoods.

As a thank you from the Fund, we received an adorable plushie and a gift bag, which we will be raffling off on Opening Night along with a signed copy of the script!
